Pittsford Odyssey of the Mind Teams Shine at States, Advance to Worlds

Six teams of Pittsford students are headed to the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals at Iowa State University, taking place May 27–30, where they will compete against top teams from around the globe.

These students advanced through a highly competitive season that began with the regional tournament on March 7, where 37 Pittsford teams participated. Seventeen teams moved on to the New York State tournament on March 21, 2026, with six teams ultimately earning top placements and qualifying for the world stage.

April 28 Power Hour on "Habits of the Mind"

Join us on April 28 at 6:30 p.m. in the CRMS Commons for a Power Hour on the “Habits of Mind.” Assistant Superintendent for Instruction Heather Clayton and Director of Student Services Lindsay Ali will unpack the ultimate toolkit for navigating problems and uncertainty and introduce the common K–12 vocabulary Pittsford Schools will begin using in 2026-27. Developed by Dr. Arthur L. Costa and Dr. Bena Kallick, “Habits of the Mind” are thinking dispositions that guide how individuals approach problems and uncertainty to help master critical thinking.

MHS Wind Ensemble Earns Gold

Congratulations to the Mendon High School Wind Ensemble for earning a Level 6 Gold with Distinction rating at the NYSSMA Major Organization Festival in Spencerport. This represents both the most challenging level of literature and the highest rating awarded. Kudos to our students and their director, Paul Maguda, for this outstanding accomplishment.

Board Members Visit Mendon Center Elementary and Meet a Science Room Celebrity

The Board of Education visited Mendon Center Elementary on April 9, spending time with students, staff, and one very unforgettable science room celebrity: the axolotl.

This fascinating little salamander doesn’t undergo metamorphosis as it ages, so it never outgrows its youthful look, even as a fully mature adult. No glow-up needed here… just permanent cuteness!
